Murchison Falls Safari

Murchison Falls is 300km from Kampala, an estimated drive time of between 5 - 6 hours. Murchison Falls covers over 3,840km2 making it the largest conservation area in Uganda. The park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into vast, palm-dotted savanna grasslands.

The park is formed of two contrasting vegetation types, with a lush green tropical forest on the southern end of the river Nile and seas of endless savannah on the other. The park is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45m over the remnant rift valley wall, creating the dramatic powerful Murchison Falls, the centrepiece of the park and the final event in an 80km stretch of rapids.

Murchison Falls is home to lions, elephants, antelope, olive baboons, buffaloes, patas monkey, oribi, leopards, chimpanzees, hyaenas and water bucks, over 451 bird species and various aquatic mammals like the Nile crocodiles, hippopotamus, residing in the banks of the river Nile.

Top activities are the day and evening game drives, chimpanzee treks through the Budongo forests, nature walks to the top of the falls, and fishing for 150 kg Nile in te river Nile. Murchison Falls is also a top biring dstination with opular spots like the royal mile where some of the Albertine endemics can be found.
